mas sandwich box

here are some pictures of the mas airline sandwich box.

it is a refreshing change from the usual heavy meals they provide. i love it. the sandwich contained tuna, butter and another with veges. there are also slices of fruits and a tasty cookie (not seen in picture). the box cover looks exclusive (can they actually save money?).

the confession of edison chen

the many faces of edison chen during his press conference in hong kong on Feb 21, 2008. photo grabbed from tv.

Edison Chen's original statement in English
(taken from SINA English)

Today, I've come back to Hong Kong to stand before you and account for myself. I've never escaped from my responsibility.

During the past a few weeks, I've been with my mother and my family and loved ones to show support and care, and, at the same time, have their support and care for me.

I admit most of the photos being circulated on the Internet were taken by me. But these photos were very private and have not been shown to people, and were never intended to be shown to anyone.

These photos were stolen from me illegally and distributed without my consent. There is no doubt whoever obtained these photos had been uploading them on the Internet with malicious and deliberate intent.

This matter has deteriorated to the extend that the society as a whole has been effected by this, and in this regard, I am deeply saddened.

I would like now to apologise to all the people for all the suffering that has been caused and the problems that have arisen from this.

I would like to apologise to all the ladies and to all their families for any harm or hurt that they've been feeling. I'm sorry.

I would like to also apologise to my mother and my father for the pain and suffering that I cost them during these past few weeks.

Most importantly, I would like to say sorry to all the people in Hong Kong. I give my apology sincerely to you all, unreservedly and with my heart.

I know young people in Hong Kong look up to many figures in our society, and in this regard, I have failed, I have failed as a role model. However, I wish this matter would teach everyone a lesson. To all the young people in our community: let this be a lesson for you all. This is not an example to be set for you.

During my time away, I've made an important decision. I will wholeheartedly fulfill all commitments that I have to take, but after that, I've decided to step away from the Hong Kong entertainment industry.

I've decided to do this to give myself an opportunity to heal myself and to search my soul. I will delicate my time to charity and community work within the next few months. I will be away from Hong Kong entertainment indefinitely; there is no time frame.

I've be assisting the police since the first day that the photos were published, and I will continue to assist them. After this press conf., I've obligations to help them with their investgation, and hope that this case can end soon, as everyone, I think, has the same wish.

I would like to use this opportunity to thank the police for their hard work on this case. Thank you.

I believe everyone's priority now, my priority now, is to stop the suffering and the pain. For not letting this ... we do not want to let this situation become more out of control. We need to protect all the innocent and all the young for matters like this. In this regard, I've been instructing my lawyers to do everything possible within the law to protect all the innocent victims of this case.

I believe that the press statements that are being issued as we speak are what my lawyers had advised me to do.

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone for coming here today, and listening to what I have to say. I would like to also apologise once again to all the ladies and their families, my family, and to everyone in Hong Kong and everyone in our society. I'm deeply saddened by this, and I apologise to everyone that has to go through this.

I would like to also thank you for giving me this opportunity to say what I've wanted to say all along in my heart. I hope, after today, I can have your forgiveness. With regard to this case, with everything, everything that had happened, I'm deeply sorry.

I hope you all would accept my apology, and give me a chance. Thank you.

dien mien ngu

when i was in sibu the other day, i had my first chance of eating dien mien ngu, a local popular foochow dish. the reason of not having it for the last 17 years was because my parents love it. my parents also love beef noodles which i do not and i assume because dien mien ngu is their favourite dish, i will not love the taste of it.

i went with mum and ordered two bowls - 1 special and the other non. what is the difference? the special one contained small octopus and costs rm2.60. the non costs rm2. i had the ordinary one coz i don't eat octopus (yes, i am a very choosy person). it tasted good, there's nothing 'beefy' about it. mum said it was made of flour grained from rice. the fish bowls were springy. the person who served us is the owner, added mum again and he is the second generation. dad commented before this is the best place to have authentic dien mien ngu. you can find similar dish near civic centre or bus terminal in jalan pahlawan but the taste are different.

with the ambience of the same old place where thousands of sibuans had their first taste of dien mien ngu, i will agree with dad.

solitude

he was once a popular guy. so popular that his mum complained about the calls she received for him day and night. i had a crush on him but i did not tell him. i didn't even know if he realised it or not. then i knew he liked this girl, a friend of mine. i was crushed but did not say or do anything. i just went on, pretending everything was normal as they can be.

then we went to universities but still kept in touch. after sometimes, i heard the girl left him and he hooked up with the cousin of the girl but they broke up too. his studies deteriorates and eventually he was kicked out. he went into depression and today he was left all alone, far from being the popular guy he once was.

i contacted him recently just to see what is going on with him. he's still the same person although he looked 'lost'. he is in solitude.

silly thing i did...

he has changed tremendously. i did the silly thing of waiting for a glimpse of him. and he has changed a lot. saw him buying something from a shop and when he walked out, he has these huge arms, very different from the sticky thin arms back in school. previously, he also has this hanger-like shoulder and we girls, always made fun of that. and now he has grew (yes, he did grow a bit) taller, i think should be around my height too. he was way shorter than me back in the school days. i guess his hormones worked at a slower pace. i could see that he frequented the gym. good for him. much better than having thin body and arms.

i remember visited his house during one of the festivals with a friend of my father's (of course my parents and my dad's friend's family tagged along). about a month before that, we had a debate competition between our schools. he was one of the debaters and yes, yours truly too was in the rival team. we fought in the final but unfortunately, his team won. i wanted to win badly and i was very dissapointed for losing in the end. i remember asking myself many why's and what if's. it was only natural that when i went to his house and saw him, i pretended not to see him. i didn't look at him or even greeted him. i guess i was still bitter for our loss and i guess i saw him as one of the reasons of why we lose. i think because of my behaviour that very day, he commented to a mutual friend that i was very arrogant. i was a bit let down by that remarks but it did not affect me greatly for we were barely friends, not even acquintances.

i did see him in pictures in some blogs. i didn't even know we (and some other friends) were at the same wedding. i only knew when his friend blogged about the event and enclosed some pictures. else, i would take the chance to greet not only him but other friends too.

ok back to the present day. i was in the car and he was waiting to cross the road. he was just in front of my car and i was not very sure if he recognised or saw me. i was a bit astounded to see his physical change. when i drove passed by his house, he turned to make another glance - either spontaneously or to look why is this person staring at him. this is just one of the silly things i do. maybe we will never meet again in the future. and i am glad for doing this silly thing.
