i finally reached sibu at 8pm yesterday via airasia. i checked in through the web, reached lcct at 5.15pm for my 6.15pm flight. checking in the web is so convenient. you don't have to rush to beat the time or line up like lining up to have a turn in the w.c. anyway, while in the waiting hall, listening to the foochow dialect around me made me feel so much at home. ahaha..
sibu is sibu. there is no other place like sibu. and boy, am i glad to be here now.

workers' day
today i dragged my ass to malacca. intended to pay up a parking compound ammounted to 50 bucks which i got during a family trip to malacca back in january. as malaccan motorists need to pay for parking even on weekends and public holidays, i assumed i could pay the compound too even if it's a holiday. to my dismay, the clerk at the booth informed i must go to the office itself to settle the summon and it's not open on that day!! arghhh... !! seems like i still need the service of the good old post office to send my payment. ok, forget about the summon.
walked to the ancient town of malacca. the buildings were red but of course, it's not the original colour. i read somewhere the colour in the olden days is white. don't know why they paint it red now though. upon arrival, went straight to Christ Church. in my past visits to Malacca, the church was always closed and guess it's my lucky day, it was opened!! the church still retained some its charm. imagine how people in the olden days in their long coats and victorian gowns had their sunday service. there were several tombs in the church and few were from the 18th century.
after that, walked to the famed A Farmosa.
one couldn't give a miss to a visit to this gateway. later on, me and a buddy went to have lunch. i wanted to find a shop which was featured in an eating program in the tv. we accidentally walked to jonker street. there were souvenier, antiques and food shops. one eating shop which had hainanese chicken rice as its specialty had a long queue of people lining up outside. hmmm... must try the chicken rice next time. we walked into tan cheng lock road to continue our search but unfortunately the shop was closed. wanted to try their famous nyonya laksa. so we had our lunch in another nyonya shop, nancy's kitchen. had nyonya laksa and otak-otak. but the laksa tasted ordinary. nothing special. even sarawak laksa has better taste.
we then walked to tan kim hock shop to buy some tidbits. bought mushroom crackers because i never tasted it before.

after that we drove to bukit cina to visit the hang li po well. legend says that bukit cina was given to the chinese by the sultan of malacca. the well is situated beside an old temple, a very old that is. cheng hoon temple or something?
we then drove to klebang beach to feel the breeze of the straits of malacca. the water was a bit muddy and no one was swimming.

2-1/2 days more to go
i have 2.5 days more to spend in sibu. absolutely not happy about how time flies when you least expect it to. i'm gonna miss sibu always even though my life is virtually meaningless when i worked here.
the mAtter began to haunt me again yesterday when i made a visit to my uncle. i always felt uncomfortable whenever it was brought up. i tried to act natural, trying to avoid from bursting out my feelings which i kept down deep inside. i know it is hopeless because nobody will agree with me as the fact will remain unchanged, and cannot be changed forever.
also made a visit to my cousin's house. his house is almost a mirror of what i would like my own future house to look like. the deco is simple, yet elegant and pleasing.
visited dad's friend too. i used to have hots for his son (maybe still now) but i don't stand a chance coz he's going to marry soon. too bad. :(
packed my luggage too. try to keep it to the minimum so that my hand will not become too sore from carrying it.
