feeding the fish

fish spa is the craze now. in bukit bintang area, the first to start the craze is pavilion but it's quite expensive i think. i saw a promotion at berjaya times square. at rm28 for 1/2 hour, now that's a bargain.

from the pamphlet given (edited):
fish spa therapy originates from turky and japan. this is a very unique beauty therapy. at such spa, many garra rufa, a type of small tropical fish, also nicknamed chinchin yu, a nibble fish or simply doctor fish, are put in hot springs. as they can live and swim freely in at least 40-degree-hot water, they are naturally used to treat skin diseases. they only consume the affected and dead areas of the skin, leaving the healthy skin to grow. it is also believed to be able to ease skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. the process is painless, however one might feel a pleasant tingling. your feet will become smooth and better blood circulation.

there were two sections, one consists smaller fishes and the other one bigger. being a first timer in this, i decided to 'feed' the smaller fishes first. the bigger ones looked like piranhas to me.

first, you would need to clean your feet. they just sprayed water on my feet without scubbing them.

now, feeding time! it was very ticklish and i was giggling here and there. the fishes were nibbling my feet!

aha!!! lovely foot. let's eat it!!

however i soon stopped giggling. i learnt that it had psychological impact on your brain if you kept looking at the fishes feeding on your feet. vision + physical = giggle. i looked elsewhere and the nibbling wasn't that bad.
